I have been collecting crosses for quite some time. I have already used up space on one wall by my back door and have started on the other side of the wall in the breakfast area.
This is my latest one from my Godson John for Christmas!
This is going to be my last post for 2011! I wish everyone a very Happy 2012, and if you get out tonight, please be safe!!! I look forward to more Blogging in 2012!!
I caught Remi standing in the yard looking as if she were guarding the house. Then she was enjoying the sunshine – but still guarding the house 🙂
Greg has been working in the back of the property with the tiller, prepping it so he can plant some coastal grass variety. We had more trees cleared from this area about two years ago and he has worked hard on burning piles of trees and bushes and cleaning up the wood so we can have a nice pasture area for when we have cows.
A new bird feeder! I wasn’t supposed to get anything as my true love Greg had already given me the laptop for Christmas. I love feeding my birds. I have a feeder in the back yard and had one hanging in this tree, but this summer it felt apart. This one is made in the good ole USA so it should last a while. The birds have found it and enjoying their seed!
Yesterday was Greg’s side of the family Christmas gathering hosted by his brother and sister-in-law. Everyone brings food and then we do the Chinese gift exchange, which is always a lot of fun. This year the WHOLE family was there. I believe Greg counted 33. We are all blessed that both of his parents are still living, his dad just turned 90 this year!! They have 4 children, 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren!!
Greg made a dish consisting of duck that was killed the day before on his duck hunt along with some sausage, jalapenos and onion. The duck was being shy, it was hidden under all of the other stuff!
I tried a new recipe that Greg found on the internet. Note to self – NEVER try out a dish the first time on someone before you try it on yourself! My first attempt was a mess. These are called Meat Sticky Buns. They tasted really good, but the next time I make them, IF there is a next time, I will do something different.
As usual, we all left with full bellies like Santa on Christmas Eve and it was all so good.
I hope everyone has a Blessed Christmas as we celebrate the reason for the season.
I got the nicest surprise in the mail today from my niece in Washington state. She knows me too well, this fits me to a T!! Guess I can go buy every color now since I am a boot wearing gal!!
I made my own sugared pecans and almonds today, found a good recipe. I made some sugared pecans using a different recipe last week and didn’t like the way they turned out. The key is egg whites! The pecans have cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla extract in them. I decided to try something different with the almonds and used a bit of cinnamon and nutmeg but instead of the vanilla extract, I used orange and almond extracts. They turned out good!
Thanks to my father- in- law for shelling these beautiful pecans. They are HUGE!
Greg has been busy cutting down some trees that have died, and then cutting them up in to firewood. He has a log splitter that he hooks up to the tractor and it sure makes splitting logs easier than what he used to do – the old fashioned way! This is what we have so far:
A blustery looking day and you would think it would be cold, but it is almost 70 degrees outside! This is Bear, our old dog just lazing the day away. But – can’t forget Remi – the attention monger!!
