I hope all of you had a blessed and joyous Easter. Before we went to church this morning, I looked out the window and noticed my red Knockout roses are blooming. I thought what a beautiful surprise that the blooms opened up on Easter! The yellow rose bush has several blooms on it as well and about to bust with more.
Last night, I was on the back porch enjoying an adult beverage and happened to look over at my yellow Knockout rose bush and noticed one was fully bloomed – I was so excited! Then I noticed on my red Knockout rose bushes they are about to bust out too. Knockout roses are about the ONLY roses that I don’t kill. If you don’t know what Knockout roses are then read here. I have planted other varieties in my flower beds and they just won’t live for me!
I sewed on the new buttons on my Easter dress and they look SO much better! I decided to use black thread as a contrast as well. I am thinking of wearing a pair of aqua colored heels with the same color light weight sweater with this. I have a necklace and earring set that I am going to wear that is multi colored that has aqua and yellow in it. I love to mix up colors and not always be so matchy matchy!
Poor Bear, it can be hard for her to stand when she eats and a lot of times, she will just lay down. I get this catalog in the mail and there is a dog food bowl holder that elevates the bowls (for both food and water) and had thought about ordering it. Frankly, it didn’t look all that stable, but it was better than nothing. Tonight when I was feeding the dogs, I noticed one of the buckets that had an indentation on the bottom and I immediately thought, that looks perfect for holding her dog bowl so it won’t go sliding off in to the wild blue yonder. It worked! To me, she seemed more at ease eating standing up so now this will be her official dog food bowl holder (Greg, you can’t have it, it’s Bear’s!).
Since I no longer work outside the home, I rarely buy any kind of clothing other than for dancing (which in that case, I shop all the time 🙂 ). In Sunday’s paper this past weekend, there was a flyer from Penney’s and in it, were some sheath dresses for ONLY $20! Now, that is a bargain. I think a sheath dress is flattering no matter what figure you have. So today I went looking for one and walked all over the store before I finally found them. When I spotted one I “had to have” and in my size, I noticed one of the buttons on the front was missing – well crap! So, I decided to try it on anyway to see if it would fit (yay, it did!), and then thought, I will just ask for a discount. When I went to checkout I told the cashier about the missing button and if I could get a discount and she said sure – I can give you $5.00 off! Now that was a nice surprise, I wasn’t expecting that much off! So my dress purchase ended up being $15.00 plus tax and I am very pleased with that. After I left the store, I thought, I need to go buy buttons as I am sure I don’t have any that size at home (at one time I sewed all of my clothes but don’t keep many buttons around any longer). And I wanted to find a prettier button than what was on the dress. Why in the world would you put brown buttons on a yellow and black dress???? Fashion faux pas in my opinion. Anyway, I went to Hobby Lobby and found two choices – I am thinking I will use the yellow ones!
Last night, I was sitting on our back porch enjoying a glass of wine. Typically Remi is back there “annoying” me (and what I mean by that is she demands attention and tries to put her paw up and then that scratches me). Buddy was back there too and he was in a frisky mood. He ran out in to the back yard and then proceeded to the garden area with Remi chasing him, like she likes to do. Buddy decided to hide in our brussel sprouts. “Hey doggie, come and find me if you can!”
I think that is what Remi says every day, all day! Anyway, my typical day around 5:00 each evening is to feed Tabitha (the indoor cat) first and then Abby and Buddy who get fed in our metal building. Buddy is usually waiting in the driveway or yard waiting for that moment and then runs across the yard and Remi running after him. A lot of times, Remi actually looks like Tigger, bouncing around Buddy as they are running to the building and Remi wanting Buddy to play. Buddy just looks at her as if to say, “get outta my way, I’m hungry!” Then I will come back and feed Remi and Bear. Unfortunately, I have to tie up Remi as if I don’t, the minute Bear looks away from her food, she is like a vulture swooping in to get it! Bear won’t growl at her either so this is just the easiest way. Of course, Remi normally stays tied up for about 30 minutes as Bear is a very slow eater!
Tabitha wanted to get in on the action to be a star on my blog – well, maybe not! Normally, she will sleep on my side of the bed at night, but lately I found her on the couch with my comfy blanket that I use to cover up when it is cold. I think she likes it too!
Last week, the temps were in the 80s. I was outside in shorts and flip flops. A cold front came through early Sunday morning and the temps dropped, and when I got up this morning, it was 33! Hubby put some buckets over some of the veggies that he got planted in the garden to keep them from freezing. Now, which bucket has veggies under it – they ALL do! Buddy had to come and visit while I was taking the buckets off of the plants. Will have to put them back on tonight as more freezing temps are called for. So, where is Spring? We have a saying in our part of Texas – just wait 5 minutes and the weather will change!
