For dinner on Friday, I made a venison meatloaf along with brown rice and gravy and boiled okra! I know, a lot of people don’t like okra boiled, but I think I like it best that way. On Sunday for lunch, we had wild hog Greg put on the grill, homemade potato salad, fresh homegrown tomatoes (not from our garden) and “cranberry” beans, which are like pinto beans, but because they are speckled they are called cranberry beans. Now, I need a nap!
It’s whats for dinner! I make my own “sauce” and use as many cheeses as I want. Tonight I used American, Swiss, Colby Jack, Medium Cheddar and Parmesan. I like to bake it until it gets brown on top – can you say yummo!!!
You gotta love ’em, but sometimes they drive you nuts! Yesterday we noticed something in the yard and turns out it was a watermelon and canteloupe rind Greg had taken off and thrown in the woods. Now I really don’t suspect Remi of doing this so Roscoe is the culprit. Is he really a Retriever instead of a Blue Heeler? Maybe a little of both!
One thing I do love about both of them is every time I walk to our mailbox, they follow. Or rather, I follow!
While I was driving to church this morning, Greg was reading the newspaper (our ritual so he can read the paper!), and he saw this Peanuts comic and said this was just like Remi. And, it is true! Remi gets SO excited when it is feeding time.
I was working on a couple projects this morning, spray painting some bird baths that I have had for years. I really didn’t want to buy new ones and after seeing the commercial on TV about Rustoleum spray paint, I thought, why not spray paint them! I chose two colors, green and red. So I completed my projects:
Well, a little later I was in the house bare footed and noticed my feet – evidently the over spray got on them and now looks either like I have a really good tan on my feet or very bad sunburn! I just got a pedicure yesterday, hope the paint didn’t mess up the polish!!
Have you ever seen purple okra? I know I haven’t and Greg planted some this year. I asked him if this was a new variety and he said no, not really, he just hasn’t planted it before. Supposedly, when you cook it, it will turn back to green. I think it would be cool if it were purple when you eat it!
It was a gorgeous morning around 7:00 Saturday morning. The temperature at our house was only 61 degrees! I sat outside on the back porch and drank my coffee. Greg joined me a little later and of course, the dogs had to come too. Remi is always there, ready to be petted and then of course, Roscoe has to get some lovin’ too!
I love an ice cold beer on these hot summer days. I got out this morning and planted some Lantana and Zinnias that I bought yesterday and it was so humid! One thing I hate about hot weather – the humidity. Well, the remedy to that is a COLD beer in the evenings!
