Venison that is! What we had for dinner tonight and it was so good. Chicken fried venison, homemade mac and cheese and okra/peppers/onions from the garden. Can’t get any better than that!!
My niece is in Texas with her two kiddos. Her husband is in the Navy and they are stationed in Georgia. They have a two and a half year old (Oliver) and 2 month old (Piper). Chris shipped out just TWO DAYS after Piper was born. Yesterday I baby sat and Oliver LOVES Matchbox cars. Luckily I still had a bunch around and that kept him busy the whole time. Plus he loves Mickey Mouse and so between playing with the cars and watching the DVD, he was a happy camper.
I have been wanting some chicken and dumplings since last week, so tonight I made some. I think these are the creamiest I have ever made! I normally add milk and butter to thicken up the juice after the dumplings have cooked but this time, I didn’t have to do that. I make my dumplings with a biscuit mix and then add milk, but this time I had some Half and Half, which was almost gone and then some heavy whipping cream (which was almost gone), so I used that along with milk. I have to remember that next time. These were REALLY good!!
To ME!!! Da da da da da da da da – Today is my Birthday – Happy Birthday to Me!! My sweet hubby brought these beautiful roses to me last night so I could enjoy them all day today. And the best birthday gift of all. HE SHAVED OFF HIS GOATEE FOR ME! When we first met, he just had the moustache and then a few short months later grew this goatee, which I liked, but wanted to see more of his handsome face. He has such a beautiful smile and the goatee hid that. I had also asked him to shave his moustache which he has had for I think over 40 years as I have never seen him without one (I don’t even think in photos), but I think that was like asking him to cut off a limb for me. I am very happy with the goatee gone.
