Almost two weeks ago, we got 5″ of rain and yesterday and today, we got about that much as well. The yard is saturated and sloshy to walk on. I swear, the grass is growing already, but it will take a while for this to dry up and mow!

I am changing colors in our bedroom as I am just plain tired of what is in there now – dark reds and gold/browns. Our new colors are going to be taupe and aqua! I ordered a taupe chenille bedspread a while back and haven’t put it on the bed yet. This past week I got material to reupholster the bench at the end of the bed and my vanity chair. I am very pleased with the way they came out. This is not my first time to reupholster something, I have done a couch, rocking chair and other home items in the past I used the right side for the bench and then the “wrong” side for the chair. I liked both sides so wanted to be different (not that it matters to anyone but me). I have been looking for new towels, rugs and curtains for the bathroom but nothing yet has screamed “take me home!” In my opinion, the hard part is done.
We have had some really nice weather lately, warm but nice breezes. Buddy the cat is back to coming up to the house since Roscoe is gone (insert sad face here). Cats have some odd positions in which they sleep and this could be one of the strangest I have seen in a while. Kinda looks like he is playing possum. Remi was being lazy as well. A dog/cat day afternoon??
I was driving around our property in our Ranger looking for something that Greg had pointed out while he was spreading fertilizer and decided to take a few more pictures of “weeds” that grow around the place. Some of the flowers that come out of these weeds are really pretty!
I absolutely LOVE baby back ribs and today, Greg grilled some along with chicken for my Mother’s Day dinner. Our garden is starting to produce and I made a squash casserole from fresh yellow squash. We have corn planted but it won’t be ready for a while so we had some from the store, which was very good and sweet. Nothing beats fresh out of the garden though and can’t wait for other stuff to be ready!
Happy Mother’s Day to all you moms out there!!
