New Mexico – Taos Coming Home

Our last day in Taos, New Mexico was a cold one.  We woke up to 3 degrees!  At least it wasn’t windy.  We had breakfast that morning with two other couples, one which had their grown daughter with them.  It was nice to visit with them.  Our breakfast that morning was the oatmeal with burned sugar and yogurt and Belgium waffles and bacon.  After that, we packed up and headed out.  We went through the Carson National Forest which proved to be breath taking.  The snow on the trees was beautiful.  We could not go very fast due to the road conditions, but we got to take in the views.  We stopped at a lookout and the snow was already pretty deep.   Someone else had pulled up before us and tromped through the snow so I followed in those footsteps.  Along the road, there was a stream and it was amazing to see it flowing, and then you wouldn’t see it, and in areas you could see the ice formed on top.  Down the road a ways, we came upon a small ski lodge, we stopped along the road and watched for a little while taking a few pictures.  This drive was stunning!

Well, that is the end of our trip.   I would love to go back one of these days in the Fall to see the leaves changing.  We were told that is spectacular.
