We have gotten some much needed rain since Saturday – over 4″ at our place. More is predicted and I am not complaining. It has really cooled things off quite a bit as well. Also, these pretty little flowers come up randomly and sparingly around our place. We have seen these for the past several years, but never knew what they were.
We were listening to a landscaping/gardening show on the radio coming home from church on Sunday and it was mentioned these are called Rain Lillies. So I decided to ask an expert – Neil Sperry on his Facebook page and they are indeed a “rain lily”, a species of Habranthus. Me the expert Googler found out they are called Copper Lily. I love these little flowers, they shoot up fast and don’t last too long. I will be mowing around these!
